Make a presentation to the class about an environmental problem affecting your


community. You can use a poster or other visual aids to help you. Your presentation must
cover the following:

 What is the environmental health problem?


 What are the causes of this environmental health problem?
 Where does this problem occur?
 Who is affected by this problem?
 What are the health issues associated with this problem?
 What suggestions do you have about solving this problem?
 How do you think solving or working on this problem will affect your community in the
long term?

You can use this rubric to help you prepare. Your teacher will use the rubric to assess you.

Appendix of Assessment Tools

During this activity, learners are required to demonstrate the following


skills/knowledge/actions:

 Display knowledge of what environmental health issues are.


 Explain why the problem exists and what the effects are on the surrounding
community.
 Compile a presentation explaining the problem, the causes and effects thereof as
well as possible solutions to the problem.

Use the following three-point rubric to evaluate learners' work during this lesson.
 Three points: Learners were highly engaged in class discussions; worked
productively in their groups; contributed to preparing a presentation on the topic
and were actively involved in delivering the presentation.
 Two points: Learners participated in class discussions; worked satisfactorily in their
groups; contributed to preparing the presentation.

One point: Learners participated minimally in class discussions; had difficulty working in
their groups.
