1. Foundations
1.1 Is the supporting surface where the scaffold is going to
be erected capable of withstanding the weight of the
Scaffold?
1.2 Base jacks or plates are capable of taking load?
1.3 Mudsills are uniformly placed and properly connected to plates?
2. Bracing
2.1 Bracing are well attached?
2.2 Tie bars are attached to each other and to the plumb vertical?
2.3 Cross braces are not used for climbing up or down from the
scaffold?
3. Frames
3.1 Frames are straight ?
3.2 Joint welds in good condition?
3.3 No excessive rust on frames?
4. Guard Rails
4.1 Guard rails provided all around platform?
4.2 Guard rails properly fixed to frame and mid rail provided?
4.3 Scaffold is 14” or less from face of work (if guardrails are
removed)?
5. Ladder
5.1 Hook on ladder secured?
5.2 Condition of the ladder?
5.3 Is there a safe way of getting materials to each platform
on the scaffold ?
5.4 Ladders 900mm above platform?
6. Platform
6.1 Full width platform provided?(18 inch)
6.2 Steel hook on boards used are proper and good condition?
6.3 Toe boards used?
6.3 Boards in good condition?
6.4 Planks do not extend past the ends of the scaffold frames more
than 6 inches unless cleated?
6.5 Planks have minimum 12" overlap?
6.6 Work platform is free of clutter, mud, oil, or any tripping hazard?
7. Signage
7.1 “Safe to Use” or “Unsafe to Use” signs and warning signs
7.2 If inspection reveals scaffold is unsafe to use, has “Do Not
Use” tag been placed at all access points?
