Lesson 1: vRealize Automation Overview
Learner Objectives
• Describe the purpose of vRealize Automation
• Identify the services offered by vRealize Automation
• Describe vRealize Automation Cloud and identify its benefits
• Explain the vRealize Cloud Universal licensing model
Introduction to vRealize Automation
vRealize Automation is a platform that automates the delivery
of virtual machines, applications, and personalized IT services
across a multivendor, multicloud infrastructure
vRealize Automation delivers self-service automation, DevOps
for infrastructure, Kubernetes automation, configuration
management, and network automation.
You can integrate, streamline, and modernize traditional,
cloud-native, and multicloud infrastructures with vRealize
Automation.
vRealize Automation offers a common Service Catalog for
administrators, developers, and business users to request IT
services, including infrastructure, applications, and desktops
vRealize Automation Key Components
About Cloud Assembly
Cloud Assembly is a cloud-based service
that you use to iteratively create and
deploy machines, applications, and
services to multiple clouds
About Service Broker
Service Broker aggregates services from multiple sources into
a single catalog that you provide to your users. Users use this
catalog to request the offered services
As a cloud administrator, you create one of the following
catalog items:
• VMware Cloud Template
• AWS Cloud Formation Template
• Marketplace VM Templates: OVA
• vRealize Automation Code Stream pipeline
• Extensibility action
• vRealize Orchestrator workflow
Users can use this created catalog to request catalog items.
About vRealize Automation Code Stream
vRealize Automation
Code Stream is a
Continuous Integration
and Continuous Delivery
(CICD) software that
enables you to deliver
the software rapidly and
reliably, with little
overhead.
vRealize Orchestrator
vRealize Orchestrator is a
development and process-
automation platform that
provides an extensive library of
workflows and a workflow
engine.
About vRealize Automation Cloud
vRealize Automation Cloud is the web-based SaaS version of vRealize Automation. VMware Cloud services offers vRealize
Automation Cloud.
The VMware Cloud services platform is a web-based application that offers software as a service (SaaS) solutions.
You can log in to VMware Cloud services at https://cloud.vmware.com.
The first time you sign up for VMware Cloud services, you create a cloud service account with your MyVMware ID. If you do
not have a MyVMware account, you create an account when you sign up
Benefits of VMware Cloud Services
VMware Cloud services introduce numerous benefits and simplify administrative tasks.
You can chat with VMware Support 24x7 or create and manage support requests.
You select the preferred payment method for your organization when you bring VMware Cloud services onboard with a new
organization.
Your customer profile determines the payment methods available to you. For example, some users can only select a commit contract
as their payment method, while others can select VMware funds and credit cards.
Gain insight across both public and private clouds to know where workloads are deployed and how resources are being used.
vRealize Automation 8.3 Versus vRealize Automation Cloud
vRealize Cloud Universal Licensing Model
vRealize Cloud Universal is a hybrid
subscription bundle of both on-premises and
SaaS vRealize Suite products
LessonLesson 2: vRealize Automation Architecture
Learner Objectives
• Identify the components used in a standard deployment
• Identify the components used in a clustered deployment
• Identify the components of vRealize Automation
• Describe the role of Kubernetes in the vRealize Automation
appliance
vRealize Automation Deployment Types
You can use one of the following approaches to deploy vRealize Automation:
• Standard deployment
• Clustered deployment
You choose your deployment type according to the needs of your business..
Standard Deployment Architecture
The standard deployment is used mainly for proof-of-concept and small environments. This deployment includes the following
components:
• vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager
• VMware Identity Manager
• vRealize Automation
The standard deployment includes three appliances.
vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager is deployed first. Then, vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager is used to deploy and manage VMware
Identity Manager and vRealize Automation.
Clustered Deployment Architecture
The clustered deployment includes the following components:
• One vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager appliance
• One or three VMware Identity Manager appliances
• Three vRealize Automation appliances
A load balancer is required for this deployment.
This deployment achieves high availability.
This deployment type is recommended for production environments.
About vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager
vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager provides a comprehensive solution to deploy, upgrade, configure, and manage the vRealize Suite
products.
About VMware Identity Manager
VMware Identity Manager is an identity as a
service (IDaaS) solution:
• VMware Identity Manager provides
multifactor authentication, conditional access,
and single sign-on to SaaS, web, and native
mobile apps.
• The VMware products can use VMware
Identity Manager as an enterprise SSO
solution
vRealize Automation Appliance
The vRealize Automation appliance is powered by Photon OS. vRealize Automation includes native Kubernetes to host
containerized services.
Role of Kubernetes
The vRealize Automation appliance services are deployed and managed as pods by using industry-standard Kubernetes.
vRealize Automation Services
The vRealize Automation services run as Docker containers in Kubernetes pods.
Lesson 3 : Installing vRealize Automation
Learner Objectives
• Describe the vRealize Automation installation process
• Use vRealize Easy Installer to set up your vRealize Automation environment
