TOPIC: ADJECTIVES STRUCTURE


1. Too and enough

TOO S + be + too + adj + (for sb) + to V

(Quá cho ai đó làm gì)


Ex: The music is too loud.
He is too old for the job
It’s too hot for me to drink.

ENOUGH S + adj + enough + (for sb) + to V


(đủ cho ai đó làm gì)
Ex: It’s warm enough.
He isn’t old enough to drive a car.
It isn’t warm enough for the kids to play outside.
NOTE:
Cac cau với cau truc “too …to” thướng se đước viet lai với cau truc “enough … to” ớ dang
phu đinh va sưdung tư trai nghĩa.
Cau viet lai phai cung thĩ với cau goc.

2. So and such

SO S + be/ V + so + adj/ adv + that + clause


(quá ……. đến nỗi mà ……..)
Ex: The dress was so expensive that she couldn’t buy it.
The teacher spoke so quickly that I couldn’t understand him.

SUCH It + be + such + (a/an) + adj + N + that + clause


(quá ……. đến nỗi mà ……..)
Ex: It was such a hot day (that) I went for a swim.
It was such hot weather that I went for a swim.
3. Other structures
- S + find it + adj + that + to do sth: thay đieu gĩ như the nao
Ex: He finds it unpleasant to work in a noisy place.
I find it difficult to learn a foreign language.
- It + be + adj + for sb + to do sth: that la …….. (cho ai) đe lam gĩ
Ex: It’s very difficult for me to get up early.
It’s hard to learn a foreign language.
- S + make + sb + adj: khien ai cam thay the nao
Ex: He makes me sad.
Her gift makes me extremely happy.
