29. Prove that in an obtuse-angled triangle, the square of the side opposite the obtuse angle [3]
equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides plus twice the product of one side
and the projection of the other on it.
30. The base PQ of two equilateral triangles PQR and PQR' with side 2a lies along y-axis [3]
such that the mid-point of PQ is at the origin. Find the coordinates of the vertices R and
R' of the triangles.
31. QT and RS are medians of a ∆PQR, right-angled at P. Prove that 4(QT² + RS²) = 5QR². [3]

32. a) Students of a class are made to stand in rows. If two students are extra in each row, [5]
there would be three rows less. If three students are less in each row, there would be
nine rows more. Find the number of students in the class.

b) Two trains leave a railway station at the same time. The first train travels due west and
the second train due north. The first train travels 5 km/hr faster than the second train. If
after two hours, they are 50 km apart, find the average speed of each train.

33. In a trapezium MNOP with MN || PO and PO = 2 MN. A line segment FE drawn parallel to [5]
MN intersects MP at F and NO at E such that NE:EO = 3:4. Diagonal PN intersects FE at
X. Prove that 7 FE = 10 MN.

34. a) Two candles of equal height but different thickness are lighted. The first burns of in 6.3 [5]
hours and the second one in 13.125 hours. How long after lighting both will the first candle
be one-third of the second?

b) In an equilateral triangle MNL, O is a point on side MN such that MN:MO = 3:1 Prove
that OL: ML = √7:3

35. A (3.5, 2.5), B (4.5, 3.5) and C (2, 4.5) are the vertices of triangle ABC. [5]
i. The median from A meets BC in D. Find the coordinates of point D.
ii. Find the coordinates of point P on AD such that AP : PD = 2:1.
iii. Find the coordinates of the points Q and R on medians BE and CP, respectively, such
that BQ : QE = 2 : 1 and CR : RF = 2 : 1.

36. On May 20, 2020, super cyclonic storm Amphan hit West Bengal. It caused [1+1+2]
widespread damage in West Bengal. Due to this, thousands of trees were uprooted
and electric poles were bent. Some electric poles bent into the shape of a parabola is
shown below. A parabola is represented by a quadratic polynomial. Based on the
above information answer the following questions.
(i) If the parabola shown in Fig. represents the quadratic y (1 , 4)

polynomial p(x) = ax² + bx + c , then

37. In a smart warehouse in Odisha, an autonomous robot named ROBO-X starts delivery [1+1+2]
from point A(0,0) at 9:00 AM, initially moving 10 m in the first minute and increasing its
speed by 2 m every minute. The warehouse is built on a perfect 1 m × 1 m grid. ROBO-X
pauses briefly whenever the total distance it has covered is a multiple of both 6 and 9. Its
return path to base is the shortest possible straight line, calculated and followed using a
linear equation by its onboard sensors.

(i) At which minute does the distance covered in that single minute first become a perfect square
number?
(ii) A student claims ROBO-X will definitely pause at 54 m. Is the claim correct? Justify your answer.
(iii) a) ROBO-X reaches point P(x,0) with total distance = 190 m. Find the linear equation of its return
path to origin and the time at which it reaches the point.
OR
b) If ROBO-X moves along a parabolic path y = ax² + bx + c, passing through (1,7), (2,10), (3,15)
find a, b, and c.

Case Study - 3
38. Radhika was excited to learn that the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup will take place from [1+1+2]
June 11 to July 19, 2026, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with
matches in 16 cities across these three countries. Her father felt that the game can be
better understood if the position of players is represented as points on a coordinate plane.

(i) At an instance, the midfielders and forward formed a parallelogram. Find the position of the
central midfielder (D) if the positions of the other players who formed the parallelogram are:
A(2, 3), B(5, 5), and C(7, 8).
(ii) Check if the Goalkeeper G(-2, 6), Sweeper H(4, 0), and Wing-back K(1, 3) fall on the same
straight line.

(iii) a) Check if the Full-back J(6, -2) and Centre-back I(-5, 7) are equidistant from Forward
C(1, 0) and whether C is the midpoint of IJ.

b) If Defensive Midfielder A(0, 5), Attacking Midfielder B(3, -2), and Striker E(a, b) lie on the
same straight line, and B is equidistant from A and E, find the coordinates of E.
