I. Objective: Date: June 17, 2025 Grade 7-Ammonite/Nautilus (10:00-11:00/11:00-12:00)

This lesson plan for Grade 7 Science focuses on the evolution of atomic models, aiming for students to describe, compare, and create representations of these models. The lesson includes a group project where students research and present different atomic models, alongside discussions on the evolution of scientific models. Evaluation will be based on group performance and individual worksheets, with a creative writing assignment as a follow-up.

Lesson Plan in Science 7

Date: June 17, 2025 Grade 7- Ammonite/Nautilus (10:00-11:00/11:00-12:00)

I. OBJECTIVE
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. Describe the evolution of atomic models from Democritus to Quantum Mechanical

Model.
2. Compare key features of at least three atomic models.
3. Collaborate to create and explain a physical model representing an atomic theory.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Atomic Models
References: MATATAG Curriculum Guide, Junior High School Science Modules
Materials: Art materials (clay, wires, foam balls), reference handouts, multimedia
presentation, worksheet, rubric
Values Integration: Collaboration, communication, and creativity

III. PROCEDURE

A. Elicit

 Review: Ask “What is an atom?” and “How do we know what atoms look like?”
 Show historical pictures of atomic models.

B. Engage

 Present short timeline video of atomic models: Democritus, Dalton, Thomson,

Rutherford, Bohr, Schrödinger.
 Ask: “What did you notice changing through the years?”

C. Explore

 Group Project:
o Assign each group one model.
o Groups research and construct a 3D representation using materials.
o Prepare a short presentation explaining who developed it, its features, and how
it improved on earlier models.

D. Explain
 Groups present models.
 Teacher summarizes major breakthroughs and limitations of each model.
 Use a chart to compare features: structure, electrons, nucleus, predictability.

E. Elaborate

 Discussion: “Why do scientific models evolve?”

 Relate to the concept of evidence-based science and technological advancement.

F. Evaluate

 Rubric-based group performance evaluation.

 Individual worksheet: matching names to models, labeling diagrams, and short
answers.

IV. ASSIGNMENT
Creative writing prompt: “If you were an atom, which model would represent you and why?”
Include three characteristics from the chosen model.
