English Tenses – Easy Guide with Urdu

1. Present Simple Tense


Structure: Subject + 1st form of verb + s/es (for he/she/it)
Use: Daily habits, facts
Example: I go to school every day.
‫ میں روز اسکول جاتا ہوں۔‬:‫اردو‬

2. Present Continuous Tense


Structure: Subject + is/am/are + verb+ing
Use: Action happening now
Example: She is reading a book.
‫ وہ کتاب پڑھ رہی ہے۔‬:‫اردو‬

3. Present Perfect Tense


Structure: Subject + has/have + 3rd form of verb
Use: Action just finished
Example: They have eaten lunch.
‫ وہ کھانا کھا چکے ہیں۔‬:‫اردو‬

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense


Structure: Subject + has/have been + verb+ing
Use: Action started in past and still happening
Example: I have been working for 2 hours.
‫ میں دو گھنٹے سے کام کر رہا ہوں۔‬:‫اردو‬

5. Past Simple Tense


Structure: Subject + 2nd form of verb
Use: Completed action in the past
Example: He played football yesterday.
‫ اس نے کل فٹبال کھیال۔‬:‫اردو‬

6. Past Continuous Tense


Structure: Subject + was/were + verb+ing
Use: Ongoing past action
Example: She was cooking dinner.
‫ وہ کھانا پکا رہی تھی۔‬:‫اردو‬

7. Past Perfect Tense


Structure: Subject + had + 3rd form of verb
Use: Action before another past action
Example: They had left before I came.
‫ وہ جا چکے تھے جب میں آیا۔‬:‫اردو‬

8. Past Perfect Continuous Tense


Structure: Subject + had been + verb+ing
Use: Past action continuing before something else
Example: He had been waiting for an hour.
‫ وہ ایک گھنٹے سے انتظار کر رہا تھا۔‬:‫اردو‬

9. Future Simple Tense


Structure: Subject + will/shall + 1st form of verb
Use: Future actions
Example: I will call you tomorrow.
‫ میں تمہیں کل فون کروں گا۔‬:‫اردو‬

10. Future Continuous Tense


Structure: Subject + will be + verb+ing
Use: Ongoing future action
Example: She will be studying at 8 pm.
‫ بجے پڑھ رہی ہوگی۔‬8 ‫ وہ رات‬:‫اردو‬

11. Future Perfect Tense


Structure: Subject + will have + 3rd form of verb
Use: Completed future action
Example: They will have finished the work by 5.
‫ وہ پانچ بجے تک کام مکمل کر چکے ہوں گے۔‬:‫اردو‬

12. Future Perfect Continuous Tense


Structure: Subject + will have been + verb+ing
Use: Action continuing up to a future point
Example: I will have been working for 3 hours by then.
‫ میں تب تک تین گھنٹے سے کام کر رہا ہوں گا۔‬:‫اردو‬
