Overview
This module introduces learners to the Microsoft Office suite with a focused, hands-on exploration of
Microsoft Word. Students will learn the purpose and common applications of the Microsoft Office family,
navigate the Word interface, create and save documents, perform text and paragraph formatting, insert
images and tables, and prepare a document for printing and sharing.
Expected Learning Competencies
After completing this module, learners should be able to:
1. Describe the core applications in Microsoft Office and their primary uses.
2. Identify the major parts of the Microsoft Word interface.
3. Create, save, and organize Word documents.
4. Apply text and paragraph formatting.
5. Insert and format images, tables, headers, footers, and page numbers.
6. Use basic proofing tools.
7. Prepare and export documents to PDF and print-ready formats.
Module Objectives (SMART)
By the end of this module learners will be able to:
- List at least four Microsoft Office applications and state one use for each.
- Open Microsoft Word, create a new document, type a short paragraph (≥100 words), and save it.
- Format a provided paragraph to match a given style.
- Insert a 2×3 table and an image, then add a header and footer with page number.

Session 1 — Introduction to Microsoft Office
Objectives: Define Microsoft Office and identify its main applications.
Activities:

Session 2 — Getting Started with Microsoft Word

Session 3 — Text and Paragraph Formatting
Objectives: Apply font styles, sizes, alignment, bullets, spacing.

Session 4 — Inserting Objects
Objectives: Insert and format tables, images, header, footer, page numbers.
Activities:
- Demo: Insert table, resize, styles.
- Students practice inserting image, table, header, and footer.
Assessment: Completed document with inserted objects.
