Simple to Medium Scale Domestic and Public Architectural Building Designs

Project 1
Expression of space by creating, distributing and arranging for a simple 2 Bedroom
timber frame residential house

1.1 Background

Critical attention is needed to address the expression of spaces according to their

functions and layout out in a simple residential building. Buildings designed with less
attention to spaces are not used according to their function. To address this issue creating
spaces, distributing and arranging them according to their functions and relationship is
required in this project.

Communication of the strong relationship of interior spaces to the form and shape of the
building is an important consideration in design. Consideration is also critical for easy
access from one space to another space. Another important consideration is the reduction
in time and movement between spaces depending on their functions. Arrangement of
spaces also depends on environmental, cultural and economic factors.
