Invitation - Mumbai Suburban District Chess Association, under the
auspices of Maharashtra Chess Association have the honor to invite
players from all the MCA affiliated District Chess Associations from
Maharashtra to participate in the H2e Power Systems Maharashtra State
Open Rating Chess Championship 2025
Recognition - The Championship is held under the Auspices of MCA, AICF
and FIDE. The said Championship will serve as the selection event for the
National Championship 2025.
Eligibility Criteria -
• All entries should be strictly routed through the respective District
Association affiliated with MCA
• Each District Association is entitled to field 4 players from their
district.
• Additional seats for last year’s Medals Winner are as follows:
Pune – 4, Thane - 2
• ‘Selected Player’ means the player selected from the respective
District Selection Events. Beside the above, the district association
may enter an unlimited number of players as a Donor Entry.
• Players have rating above 2000 are exempted from taking part in
this championship.
Selection of Maharashtra Team:
• Top 4 Players will be selected to represent Maharashtra State in the
forthcoming National Chess Championship 2025. Players
participating in this championship will only be allowed to participate
in National Chess Championship. Additional Information about extra
seat will be shared in technical meeting/ prize distribution ceremony
in the tournament hall. Participation in this Championship is
compulsory if any player wishes to take part in National
Championship 2025.
• If any player wishes to Skip the State Selection and directly take part
in National Championship 2025 then he/she will have to pay a non-
refundable privilege fee of Rs. 3,500/- to MCA

Participation certificates will be uploaded on the website of MCA
(www.mcachess.in) within 21 days from the end date of the championship.
System of Play - The Championship shall be played under the FIDE Laws
of Chess for a total of 8 rounds. The time control for each game shall be 60
minutes for the entire game plus and additional increment of 30 seconds
per move starting from move one. Default Time: 30 Mins
Tie - Breakers -
1. Buchholz Cut 1
2. Buchholz
3. Sonneborn Berger
4. Direct Encounter
5. Number of wins (including forfeit)
6. Number of wins with black
Electronic Devices - If Players are carrying mobile phone or any electronic
devices inside the tournament hall including smart watches, digital
watches, and analogue watches they must be switched off and kept inside
the bag. If the same is found during the game on the body of the player
he/she is liable to lose the game.
Protests - Protest if any against the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be
made in writing with a protest fee of Rs.2,000/- within 30 minutes of the
occurrence of the incident. The amount shall be refunded if the appeal is
upheld.
Appeals Committee - A seven-member Committee of Appeals (inclusive
of 2 reserves) shall be formed from amongst players/officials/coaches
present on the Inaugural day. The decisions of the Appeals Committee
would be final and binding on all the participants.
Interpretation - For interpretation of the Rule(s) and for deciding any point
not covered by the above rules of the tournament, the decision of the
tournament committee shall be final and binding on all. The tournament
committee has every right to make any addition or amendment to these
rules, without notice. Such changes shall, however, be displayed in the
tournament hall.
Accommodation - Free dormitory type lodging will be provided to the four
selected players from each of the participating District (provided they have
conducted their selection trials). The additional players selected from last
year's medal winners’ districts are also eligible for free dormitory type
lodging. Accommodation will be provided from 11/09/2025 to 13/09/2025
till 10 AM. Accompanying persons would be provided accommodation @
Rs.750/- per head, per day

If any player wishes to withdraw his/her name from the championship then
they will have to do so by informing MCA via email
([email protected]) before the pairing of round 1
is done.
AICF/MCA Registration:
All the participants must be registered with AICF for the year 2025-2026.
Online AICF/MCA registration link is given below. Those who have already
obtained registration cards from AICF/MCA for 2025-26 may be asked to
show the copy of the same. No entry will be accepted without AICF/MCA
player’s registration for 2025-26 and such player’s will not be paired.
