Getting Started
* Read the entire pattern before beginning.
* All seam allowances are 3/8” unless otherwise stated.
* Finish seams with a serger or zigzag stitch to reduce fray.
* Pre-wash fabric, particularly knit, to prevent shrinkage.
* When instructed, topstitch your garment to lock seams in place. To topstitch, increase the stitch length to
3.0. Stitch 1/8” away from the folded edge and directly over the seam.
* Optional topstitching will always be specified.
* To gather, increase the sewing machine tension and stitch length to the highest settings. Leave a 5” to 10”
thread tail and stitch ¼” from the raw edge. Do not backstitch at the end, but instead leave another 5” to 10”
tail.

Recommended Fabrics:
* Knit fabric with at least 30% stretch. Fabric with 50% stretch is suggested for neckband and armbands.

Notions & Supplies

*Sewing supplies: Sewing machine, thread, ball point needles, scissors or rotary blade, and thread.
*1/2” knit elastic for elastic waist.

Pattern Pieces Printing, Cutting & Assembly Instructions

* PSC patterns are layered, providing the option to print one or more sizes at once.
* When printing, make sure to select Auto portrait/landscape and 100% scale boxes.
* Select the pattern pages to print.
* Once printed, match up symbols and tape pattern pieces together. A visual depiction of the pattern layout will be
provided with the cutting instructions.
* Pages can be trimmed to black border or used without trimming
*Page numbers are numerical from top to bottom
*Page letters are matched alphabetically from left to right
*Pages meet to make complete circles

Printing specific pattern sizes

* Open the pdf pattern.
* On the far left side of the screen is a layers button (two diamond
shapes layered on top of each other). Click this
button.
* Every size will have a black oval in the box. This means all sizes
will print. De-select the sizes that are not needed by clicking the
box.

Choosing the Right Size

Choose your size based on a combination of your
bust, waist, and hip size. Grade between sizes when Bust: ________________________
needed using smooth lines. This dress features a
loose fit so grading may not always be necessary.
When choosing your length, refer to the finished Waist: _______________________
measurements chart on page 5.
Hips: ________________________
This pattern is drafted for a height of 5’5”-5’7” with a
sewing cup size of “B” which is a 2” difference between
the high and full bust.

Optional -
Inseam Pockets
*Skip to Step 3 if you do not want to add a pocket.

Step 1: Mark a place 1.5” down from

the waist line measurement.

Step 2: Place a pocket piece and the

front dress piece right sides together. Pin
in place. Use a serger or zig zag stitch to
finish the seam. Repeat for all four pocket
pieces

*If you are adding a side slit, follow below.

*If you are not adding a side slit, Skip to
Step 8.

Finishing the Side Seams with a

Side Slit
*Optional- Serge down the side of your front and back
dress pieces, following the curves of the pockets.

Step 3: Using the dot from your pattern

piece, mark where your slit will stop (shown
in red). You can choose to adjust this
height higher or lower, or only do one
side.

Step 4: Place the front and back dress

pieces right sides together. Pin along the
shoulder and sides. Finish the seams with
your sewing machine, curving around the
pocket pieces and stop at the place
where your slit will begin. Repeat on
opposite side.

Step 5: Starting below the pocket, press

the side seams open. You will fold the
sides of the slit under 3/8”. Repeat with
opposite side if applicable.

Step 6: Sew around the slit. Repeat for the

other side if applicable.

Hem your Dress

Step 7: Turn up the bottom raw edge of
the dress towards the wrong side of the
fabric 3/4” and press. Topstitch to secure.

*Skip to Step 10 to hem your sleeves.

*Skip to Step 11 to add armbands

Finishing the Side Seams

without a Side Slit
Step 8: Place the front and back dress
pieces right sides together. Pin along the
shoulder and sides. Use a serger or sew a
zig zag stitch, curving around the pocket
pieces to finish the seam.

Hem your Dress

Step 9: Turn up the bottom raw edge of
the dress towards the wrong side of the
fabric 3/4” and press. Topstitch to secure.

*Follow below to hem your sleeves.

*Skip to Step 11 to add armbands.

Hem your Sleeves

Step 10: Turn the sleeves towards the

wrong side of the dress 1/2”. Topstitch to
secure.

Attach the Neckband (and

sleeve cuff)
Step 11: Fold the neckband in half right
sides together. Serge or zig zag stitch the
short sides. Now fold the neckband in half
wrong sides together and press. Quarter
the neckband and the neck opening
marking each section with pins.

Step 12: Match the pins starting with the

back. Pin the neckband to the neck
opening matching the raw edges. Serge
or sew using a zig zag stitch to finish the
seam.

Step 13: Press the neckband and topstitch

if desired. Repeat Steps 11-13 to add
the armbands.

*Follow Below to sew the sash.

*Skip to Step 16 to add an elastic casing.

Sewing the Sash

Step 14: Place both sash pieces right
sides together and sew around leaving a
1.5” gap for turning. Clip the corners.

Step 15: Turn right side out and press. Sew

the hole closed. You can topstitch if you
like.

Adding the Elastic Casing:

Step 16: Press each side of the casing
towards the wrong side of the fabric
3/8”. This will give you a memory line in
the fabric. Depending on the size you
are making, you may have 1 or 2 casing
pieces

Step 17: Fold the pressed casing in half

right sides together and sew the short
end/ends using a serger or zig zag stitch
to finish the seam.

Step 18: Slip the casing over the dress

right sides together and position using the
waistline marker as a guide. Pin around.
Sew the top edge with a 3/8” seam
allowance using the guide lines you
pressed into the casing.

Step 19: Fold the casing up at the seam

so that the right side is facing out and
press. Turn the top raw edge of the
casing where your memory line is in to
create a tube and press again. Pin in
place.

Step 20: Topstitch 1/8” away from the top

edge of the casing leaving a 1” gap to
thread the elastic through. Topstitch 1/8”
away from the bottom edge all the way
around.

Step 21: Using a safety pin, thread the

elastic through the casing. Overlap
the edges by 1/4” and tack to secure.
Topstitch to close up the casing.
