How to Create a Vision Board
Introduction
Good afternoon everyone. I want to begin with a simple question. Have you ever had goals or
dreams that you struggled to stay focused on? Many of us have. A vision board is a simple yet
powerful tool that can help us keep those goals front and center in our daily lives. Today, I am
going to demonstrate how to create a vision board. By the end of my presentation, you will know
exactly how to make one of your own and use it to stay motivated.
Body
Step 1: Gather your materials
To begin, you will need a board, which can be cork, foam, or even a piece of cardboard. You will
also need scissors, glue or tape, and magazines or printed images. These materials will help bring
your vision to life.
Step 2: Reflect on your goals
Before you start cutting and pasting, take a few minutes to reflect on what you want in different
areas of your life. These can be personal goals, career aspirations, health improvements, or even
travel plans. According to Dawn (2021), this step is critical because it helps you focus your
energy on the goals that matter most.
Step 3: Collect and arrange images
Next, begin cutting out words, phrases, or pictures that represent your dreams. For example, if
you want to travel, you might cut out a photo of a beach. If you want to focus on health, you
might include images of healthy food or someone exercising. Dr. Izzy Sealey (2025) explains
that when you see these images daily, your brain becomes more motivated to take action toward
those goals.
Step 4: Create your board
Now, arrange the images and words on your board. There is no right or wrong way to do this.
You can group them by category or spread them out however you like. Once you are satisfied
with the layout, glue or tape them in place. This is the step where your board begins to take
shape as a personal work of art.
Step 5: Display your vision board
Finally, place your vision board somewhere you will see it often, such as your bedroom wall or
your desk. The more you look at it, the more it will remind you of the goals you are working
toward. Think of it as a daily reminder of your future self.
Conclusion
To summarize, creating a vision board involves five simple steps. First, you gather your
materials. Second, you reflect on your goals. Third, you collect and arrange images. Fourth, you
create your board, and fifth, you display it where you can see it every day. A vision board is not
only a creative project but also a powerful way to stay motivated and inspired. I encourage you
all to try making one of your own. Who knows? It might just be the key to turning your dreams
into reality.
