With the dead-bodies on the ground and shotting of the guns, the crowd was trembling in
fear. Only a few were chosen to kill… Is it really our fault to be Hindus? Tuesday ‘s
bloodshed – where atleast 26 innocents were killed mercilessly and 20 others were injured.
The gunmen barged into their houses, menacingly questioning the household whether there
are Hindus or Muslims. To be Hindu or not to be Hindu: that’s the question. This attack that
took place in Pahalgam shook the entire nation. The area that was surrounded by a dense pine
forest was instantly changed to a scene of violence. Particularly, three government officials
from the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and Intelligence Bureau respectively, were among
those who were killed. 23 of the deceased were locals from various Indian States and 2 being
the foreign tourists and 1 being the local resident. Witnesses claimed that around 2:45 pm, 4
to 5 men under-disguised made an appearance from a forest, carrying the deadliest weapons
such as, AK-47s and M4 carbines. With the hearing of the gun-shots, many misunderstand it
to be an army protocol. Reporters specify that the attackers asked for the names and religions
of the victims. “We were eating Bhel Puri on the side, one person showed up and shot man
next to me.” were the words of a witness. Disturbingly, trousers of nearly 20 male victims
were found pulled down to check for circumcision to decide their faith. Some were even
asked to recite the Kalma (Muslim prayer). Hindus who failed to these “examinations” were
shot dead. There was a couple on a trip where the husband has gone through this terrorist
check and got killed, her wife in sorrow told the terrorist to kill her too and this is what the
reply of the terrorist was: “I won’t kill you, go tell Modi”. The wife had to suffer and
traumatize herself with her loved one killed. Is this how a Hindu’s life should lead like? Is
there really a way to put an end to these endless clashes between neighbouring countries?
Our Home Minister, Amit Shah paid tribute to the victims. NIA Team has begun its
investigation and searched the terror attack site. Other agencies released the sketches of
terrorists behind Pahalgam Attack. Not just the sketches but also, they have released the
picture of 4 terrorists behind this vicious attack. The Resistance Front (TRF) – a shadow
group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group – has claimed its
responsibility for this attack. The tension between India and Pakistan has increased
drastically. With all this tensions and weight carried by the India, it has finally taken certain
measures against Pakistan. Pakistan diplomats are asked to leave the country and fly to
Pakistan within 48 hours. These measures also include advising Indian citizens against
travelling to Pakistan. The Indus Water Treaty (IWT) is a water-distribution treaty between
India and Pakistan, arranged and negotiated by the World Bank and this treaty is kept on
hold. Pakistan has retaliated with similar actions of closing it airspace to Indian airlines and
deactivating the trade.
