Modern consumers interact with companies across a number of digital channels every day.
Being able to provide a seamless experience at each touch point is vital to your success. But as
these digital experiences become more complex, the need for a dedicated role to manage that
experience increases. This course is all about the digital product owner. This course is about
design and development of tech / digital product which follows a process of many steps from
planning to prototyping, testing, QA stage before launching it into the market. Learning
objectives of the course are -
CLO1: To understand the technical and business aspects of new product design and
Learning development (NPDD) specific to digital products that satisfies the customer needs
Objectives across unfamiliar functional domain to solve the business problem (PLO 3a)
CLO2: To design best digital product strategy for coming up the new products more
quickly and successfully in a competitive world that meets customers' needs (PLO 4b)
CLO3: To analyse and evaluate the life cycle of digital product from planning to
develop a prototype, testing & QA, support and its managerial implications on
business in a competitive and uncertain business environment (PLO 2a)
Starting from the very basics of “What is a digital product?”, the course curriculum introduces
students to the productizing process and the skills and frameworks such for planning required
to design, developing, testing, assuring, securing, and looking as a final outcome. You will first
be introduced to the new product development process and the thinking strategies that will
transform the way you will develop digital products, services, and processes.
Learning The learning outcome of the course is –
Outcomes
To become familiar with the reasons behind why tech companies, require Digital
Product Mangers to write detailed product specifications while others do not? (CLO 1)
To become familiar about the new product design & development life cycle (NPD&D)
and its context in the domain of digital product and understanding the life cycle to
refine your ideas to build for a product/market fit. (CLO 3)
To become familiar with the fast and High-Fidelity Prototyping Techniques and
1|P a g e
when/why would one chose one over the other? And to understand how user
personas work? (CLO 3)
To understand the business value of design and role of Product Managers for the
digital world to see things from the end user perspective and act as a mini-CEO (CLO 2)
To critically analyze software engineering development processes from selected
development philosophies (like traditional, agile, etc.) (CLO 2)
There is nothing more powerful than an idea that is ready to go. This course is designed to help
you materialize your game-changing idea and transform it into a product that you can build a
business around. Product design blends theory and practice to teach you product validation,
UI/UX practices, design Sprint, and the process for setting and tracking actionable metrics. This
course teaches modern tools, techniques and methods for product design and development
specific to digital software products.
Course Upon completion of this, students will have :
Description a clear view and understanding of the New Product Development (NPD) arena for
digital software products from a value-driven and customer-centric approach
be able to understand the role of a Product Manager in digital world
understand economics, support functions and the power of UX and UI in the process
of development of a digital product
understand the power of data, data driven analytics, workflow aautomation and
techniques in NPD&D
