About the DST Haryana
The Science & Technology Department was created on March, 1983. Promotion of Renewable
Energy Programmes was one of the thrust area and objective of the Department and most of the
resources were concentrated in this direction. In 1995, State Government created new Department of
Non- Conventional Energy Sources by bifurcating the Science & Technology Department.
Accordingly, priority areas of Department were reframed. The main objective of HSCSIT is to provide
linkages between the operational departments of the Government, research and educational
institutions and productive sectors in agriculture &industry etc; ensure applications of Science &
Technology to solve real problems encountered in plan implementation; promote location specific
research; demonstrate through model experiments & to utilize local capabilities/resources on an
integrated basis. Apart from this, HSCSIT is engaged in science popularization in order to promote
scientific thinking among the people of the state.
