Learning Objectives:
The objective of this assignment is to enable the students in understanding the complete
practical procedure of car financing through Ijarah mode of Islamic finance by visiting a
nearby Islamic banking branch and collecting useful information in this regard.
The Case:
Ijarah is an Islamic mode of financing in which the owner (lessor) of an asset transfers
its right of use (usufruct) to another person (lessee) for an agreed period and rent, while
ownership remains with the lessor. Being a student of Banking Laws and Practices
(BNK610), you are required to visit any nearest Islamic banking branch of any Islamic
bank and provide the following information regarding practical procedure of Car Ijarah
in Islamic banks:
1. Overview of Ijarah car financing
2. Terms and conditions of car Ijarah contract
3. Eligibility criteria for availing Ijarah car financing
4. Documents required for Ijarah car financing
5. Processing time
6. Current profit or rental rates
7. Practical procedure of Ijarah car financing including the procedure of car
selection and purchase, security and documentation, delivery of vehicle,
maintenance and insurance of vehicle and ownership transfer at the end of Ijarah
contract etc.
