6 of typical semi-monocoque structures, distribution of concentrated loads in
webs, loads on fuselage bulkhead, analysis of wing ribs. Shear flow in
tapered webs.
Course Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion student will be able to:
1. Describe buckling behavior of columns and the methods of predicting the buckling loads.
2. Understand the stability of plates under different loads and boundary conditions and various
techniques for approximate solution.
3. Analyze the post-buckling behavior of plates and the Stress and bending moment analysis of
beams
4. Evaluate the stresses and strain using various measurement techniques.
5. Explain the behavior of non-circular solid bars, shells and thick walled tubes under torsion.
6. Apply the diffusion of stress in stiffened panels and apply the analysis of wing and semi-
monocoque fuselage structures.
Competencies developed:
After completion of the course the students will have: A comprehensive overview of aerostructure
which helps the students to analyse aircraft structures by various tools & techniques.
Pedagogy for course delivery:
1. Class Lectures will be delivered by Faculty member using audio, visual aids and few lectures by
industry experts on specific topics. It also includes discussion on real life problems.
2. Slide shows, case studies and videos related to aircraft structures will be shown wherever
required.
3. E-lectures, e-seminars, and e-presentations will be used wherever required.
4. Industry visit can also be arranged to demonstrate live problems in industry.
