Precis Writing Guidelines
You should choose only one of the publications and essays pertaining to various Management
& Industrial Engineering domains from the repository shared with you. This should be in line
with your domain interest.
The repository of publications & essays shared are published work by the department faculty and
otherwise, are representative of the research interests of the faculty. The prospective student is
expected to work in one or more of these areas or similar domains in alignment with their
interests if they are granted admission to the program.
It is advised that the prospective candidate should download all or those which closely pertain to
his/her/their interest domains and peruse through the same before selecting the one paper on
which they wish to Summarize & Submit.
The synopsis is aimed at ascertaining two dimensions of an individual's capabilities:
1. Understanding Complex Concepts
2. Articulation Capability of your understanding in simple terms
Guidelines for submission (read carefully before proceeding):
1. Your name and application no. should be written at the top of the first page of
your submission and also mentioned in the subject line of your email
2. Title of the paper chosen from the repository
3. The Title format should be (file Name) followed by (application no.) followed
by (your name) and title of the paper
4. Word limit: Maximum 1500 words (breaching of word limit will invite penalty)
5. Should comprise of Preamble & Summary
6. Opening Date & Time: 17th May 2021, 1400 hrs (2.00 PM)
7. Submission Date & Time: 18th May 2021, 1400 hrs (2.00 PM)
8. Submission Mode: Email your submission to
[email protected] 9. Submission File Name format: (name of the file)/(application no.)/(Name).
Sample: If your file name is ‘IM_BDSM 1’ and your application number is
‘2022000456’ and your name is ‘Apple’ then the submission file name would be
‘IM_BDSM 1_2022000456_APPLE’
