Conducting Surveys For Newspaper Articles

To conduct an effective survey for a newspaper article, a researcher must use a random sample so that every member of the population being studied has an equal chance of being selected, avoid relying only on available respondents, and consciously decide who to survey. Questions should concentrate on one item, avoid ambiguity, and may include filter questions to narrow the focus of respondents. When writing questions, the researcher should avoid bias and consider the audience's knowledge.
