This is an experiential-museum event
dedicated mainly to help promote the
deaf culture and bridge the hearing
and hard-of-hearing together.
The title is about breaking the barriers:
Communication barriers
Stigma
Purpose
To allow hearing people experience what
happens in the daily life of the deaf.
To help lessen the stigma and
stereotyping of deaf people.
To advocate awareness and understanding
on the deaf culture.
To encourage deaf and hearing people to
have social interaction and help lessen the
communication and stereotyping barriers.
Participants
Hearing people who are curious
Deaf Volunteers who are willing to
volunteer
SL-Literate persons who are willing to
volunteer
First Part: Develop
Hearing people can experience and
understand better how hearing
impairment takes toll.
Better explanation and education so
hearing people can understand the way
of life of
May seek the help of professionals.
Develop
This is dedicated to spread information
and education about the deaf and deaf
culture.
People can attend short-talks and
seminars about deaf culture.
They can get informative freebies.
Basic Sign Language Course.
Second Part: Experience
The theatrical counterpart of Develop.
Hearing people can experience what
they have learned so far from the from
the first part.
There will be an experiential museum
and artworks that adhere to the
message of the event.
Experience
People can get first-hand experience
on what they have learned from the
first part.
Involves skits and theatrical
presentations, lights and sounds, and
artworks.
Heavily visual and emotional.
Third Part: Action
Hearing and Hard-of-Hearing people can
socialize in this part.
Action
HUMAN LIBRARY SYSTEM
The Human Library is a place where real
people are on loan to readers.
A place where difficult questions are
expected, appreciated and answered.
Fourth Part: Feel
Participants are encouraged to express
their feelings and learnings about the deaf
culture through any means they wish (eg:
painting, poems, stories, essays, etc).
Voluntary but highly encouraged.
Artworks may be sold for the benefit of
deaf foundations.
Other forms of art will be published for the
sake of information and education of deaf
culture.
