LPN System
• An LPN is an object that exists in a location and hold items. It is used to Track, Transact and nest LPN's.
Use of LPN's in following ways
• Store information about an item, Lot, Serial, Sub–Inventory, Locators.
• Track contents of container
• Receive, store and pick material by LPN
• View on hand balances by LPN
• Transfer LPN contents
• Pack, unpack, Consolidate, Split and update LPN's.
• Track nested LPN's.

WMS Rule Engine
Rules engine provides a repository for restrictions and business policies. You define and implement rules, directly from standard Oracle Applications
windows. You select from the elements in the lists of values to compose rules. The rules engine also does not allow you to modify rules currently in use.
Based on the restrictions that you define, the rules engine performs the following activities:
Enables directed picking
Enables directed put away
Assigns tasks to a resource with the appropriate training and equipment
Assigns cost groups to received material
You can base rules on nearly any attribute in the database, including user-defined flexfields. You can create rules based on the following rule types:
• Put Away
• Picking
• Task Type Assignment
• Cost Group Assignment
• Label Format Assignment
• Operation Plan Selection

Cycle Count
Cycle Count functionality has always been a integral part of Oracle Inventory. Cycle counting is the process of periodically
counting individual items to ensure accuracy of inventory quantities and value. With Oracle Warehouse Management, this
functionality has become more user friendly, less time consuming, and more accurate.
The most significant improvement is in the way the actual count is entered and the flexibility in entering the count. In an
Oracle Warehouse Management enabled environment the Mobile Radio were formerly performed on the desktop. Counts
are recorded immediately in the database. Frequency (RF) devices essentially provide a new interface for the same
cycle count transactions
Cartonization
Oracle Warehouse Management uses cartonization to suggest the best packaging configuration for a group of items. The
system can present the packaging suggestion to you in one of many ways, including automatically generating license plates,
printing container and shipping labels, and presenting the suggestion to you as part of a task.

Difference between Oracle Inventory and WMS
Inventory and WMS modules are used to hold the inventory and do transactions like receiving and picking goods.
Key Business Processes supported by Oracle WMS are:
Inbound Logistics (Receiving from Supplier, Returns, Corrections)
Outbound Logistics (Picking, Packing, Shipping)
Reverse Logistics (Customer Returns)
Stocking and Internal Inventory Movements
WIP JOB Assembly completion, Component issues
WMS comes with rule workbench which makes warehouse management lot easier and efficient by defining different rules,
pick rules, putaway rules, label printing rules.
In nventory module, accounting details cannot be given down the sub inventory level but in WMS it can be derived in many
different levels, in locator level, lot level, supplier level, etc.
