Imperative Sentences
The imperative is a request or
command type of sentence that gives
advice or instructions that expresses
request or command. An imperative
sentence typically begins with the base
form of the verb. An imperative
sentence ends with a period or with an
exclamation point. It can be positive or
negative.
Positive Imperatives begin with verb.
Examples: Go now!
Sing your favorite song.
Listen to the teacher.
Negative Imperatives begin with Do not +
base form of the verb.
Examples: Do not come if you’re not ready.
Do not disobey your parents.
Don’t talk to your classmates!
