STUDIES AT LIVES IN THE CAUSE OF
NORTHERN PHILIPPINES TRANSFER: TO
LUZON FOR 5 YEARS STUDY
ADVENTIST
COLLEGE
1. HOW DO CITIZENS OF YOUR
COUNTRY PERCEIVE FILIPINOS?
They see Filipinos as beautiful people
because of the small insight they
have about the country they can only
relate to what the “TV” shows.
2. HOW DO YOU THINK FILIPINOS
PERCEIVE CITIZENS OF YOUR
COUNTRY?
They think it’s underdeveloped and
very poo because they never try to
learn about it and thy think we don’t
eat rice there.
3. DESCRIBE THE DIFFERENCES IN
MANNER OF SPEAKING?
There is not much of difference. Filipinos
speak a bit louder than the people in my
country, but we both respect the elderly
when we speak to them and things like
that not much of difference.
4. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS
OF FILIPINOS THAT ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE
USUALLY IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY?
A lot of things like burping when u
are at the table, brushing your teeth
on the kitchen sink, being racist (not
everyone), things like these.
5. WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES OF
FILIPINOS AND CITIZENS OF YOUR
COUNTRY IN TERMS OF BEHAVIOR AND
THINKING?
We both respect the elderly, we like
to sing, we don't have much of
similarities on the way we think or
perceive things.
6. WHAT WAS YOUR MOST DIFFICULT
ADJUSTMENT STAYING IN THE
PHILIPPINES?
The most difficult part is we always have to
answer the same nonsensical questions
about my race, my hair, country and culture
and deal with the racism in a form of humor
and the adjustment with the language as
well.
7. HAVE YOU EVER EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY
IN TRANSACTING OR COMMUNICATING IN
ENGLISH WITH FILIPINOS? IF YES, TELL
YOUR GROUP ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE.
Yes all the time it's hard to communicate
in English even more when u go to less
urban areas, because they speak less
English and more on Tagalog
FILIPINOS ANGOLANS
