Christmas Traditions in Great Britain

Christmas in Great Britain is celebrated on December 25th and is considered the most colorful holiday of the year. Traditions include children hanging stockings for Father Christmas to fill with presents overnight, exchanging Christmas cards which became popular after the first printed card in 1843, and kissing under mistletoe based on a medieval English tradition. Other traditions are eating Christmas pudding with a coin inside that is said to bring luck to the finder, considering robins Christmas birds because of their red color resembling old postmen's uniforms, and decorating Christmas trees which began as a tradition after Queen Victoria decorated one in Windsor Castle in 1841.
