INTRODUCTION
• Obesity is an increasingly significant problem that is
likely to endure and to have long term adverse influences
on the health of the individuals and population unless
action is taken to reverse the trend. A number of factors
have been suggested as contributing to development of
obesity in childhood,
INTRODUCTION
• Obesity is the second leading cause of death
• The teaching given should create awareness among
parents about exercise and nutrition.
PROBLEM STATEMENT -1
• A cross sectional study to assess the effectiveness of
information education and communication on knowledge
and attitude regarding childhood obesity among parents
in selected home settings.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• Today's children are tomorrow's future of the world.
• Obesity causes numerous health issues and illness which
affects the generation.
• According to the national collaborative on childhood
obesity research 1 out of 3 children are obese before
their 5 th birthday.
• Approximately 12.5 million or 17% of children and
adolescents aged 2 to 19 years are obese.
NEED FOR THE STUDY:
• According to the national collaborative on childhood
obesity research 1 out of 3 children are obese before
their 5 th birthday. And approximately 12.5 million or
17% of children and adolescents aged 2 to 19 years are
obese.
• These rates are even higher than economically
disadvantaged children.
• Genes, epigenetic, the intrauterine environment as well
as early life influences play a role in where or not a child
is obese
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• Obesity management is critical so prevention and awareness
bring more effective out comes. The preventive interventions
will lead to produce changes at multiple levels, including
individuals, families, schools, specially children.
• Studies have shown that a high proportion of students are
unaware of or unconcerned about their overweight status. In
a study 30% of school children are overweight (6-11 years).
The prevalence of obesity is doubled (12-19) years
quadrupled among younger children (6-11 years) worldwide
one out of 5 children in India's overweight or obese, a total 9
million children.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• As a consequence of the rising incidence of obesity, parents un
awareness and over feeding is also a cause for this condition.
• Parents role at home in promoting healthful eating practices and
levels of physical activity are so critical in preventing obesity.
• They should also take central to collective efforts to combat the
nation's childhood obesity.
• Obesity may also increase the risk of serious complications from
HINI influences.
• A study in California showed about 25% of the people
hospitalizedfor HINI complication.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• The foundation of lifelong good health is laid in childhood.
• Addressing childhood obesity is very important in order to
improve the health of the child.
• Information, Education, Communication plays an important
role to improve the knowledge on prevention of obesity.
• Educating students regarding the prevention of obesity help
students to choose and maintain in healthy lifestyle.
• The information provided to the students also help the students
to eat better be more active and achieve healthier weight.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• Prevention of obesity is the key strategy for controlling
the current epidemic of obesity.
• So the school age children are considered to be the
priority population for implanting knowledge regarding
prevention of obesity.
• Since there is an urgent need to initiate prevention. So
as a researcher I felt that Information, Education.
Communication as a key role to improve the health of
the children.
OBJECTIVES :
• To assess the level of knowledge regarding prevention of
childhood obesity among selected home settings.
• To evaluate the effectiveness of Information Education
Communication on knowledge regarding prevention of
childhood obesity among parents in selected home
settings.
• To determine the association between the level of
knowledge regarding prevention of childhood obesity
among parents in selected home settings with their
selected demographic variables,
INTRODUCTION
• Life without a mobile phone would seem next to
impossible today, where it is used not only for the sole
purpose of communication but also as a storehouse of
important personal information, internet facilities,
navigation, social networking, bank transactions, and
many more such needs. The use of mobile phones has
also found to be a leading cause of road traffic accidents.
• This study assesses the mean score of mobile phone use
among the selected population uning Problematic Use of
Mobile Phone (PUMP) questionnaire.
PROBLEM STATEMENT -2
• A cross sectional study to assess the problematic use of
mobile phones among selected population in an urban
area.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• What developed as a need in 1973, has grown in leaps and
bounds with an estimated 339.95 million users in India alone
which is expected to rise to 442.5 million users in 2022.
• The average age of children using cell phone is at 10.3 years,
and the radiofrequency waves emitted from mobile phones
have also been evaluated for being possible human
carcinogens.
• Various health problems such as neurological diseases,
physiological addiction, and cognition and sleep disturbances
have also found to be associated with the constant use of
mobile phones .
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• A study published in 2017, on mobile phone addiction,
shows that many of them were extremely dependent on
smart phones, one-fourth of the studied population had
wrist and hand pain due to smart phone use, which may
lead to further physiological and psychological
complications.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• Strengthening of global health standards requires
identifying the problem and taking remedial measures in
time to prevent further worsening of global health
conditions. Mobile phone misuse has been found to be
affecting people irrespective of age, socioeconomic
status, or educational qualification. There has been to be
an inverse
OBJECTIVES :
• To assess the PUMP usage among the selected
population in an urban area.
• To develop and assess the psychometric properties of an
English language measure of problematic mobile phone
use.
INTRODUCTION
• The rigorous efforts students put into baccalaureate
nursing programs to become a professional nurse is
compounded by their need to have a sense of belonging
in their clinical placements.
• In addition, the students perceived stress may contribute
to their physiological and psychological wellbeing
undermining academic achievements and confidence.
INTRODUCTION
• Clinical sources of stress are like taking care of ill
patients, interpersonal conflict with peer group,
insecurity about personal clinical competence, fear to
complete their clinical requirements, dealing with
uncooperative patients, work overload, prolonged
standing, learning psychomotor skills,
• e.g. bed making, bed bath, and vital signs montoring
have also been associated with high levels of stress.
PROBLEM STATEMENT-3
• A qualitative study to assess the clinical stressors of
baccalaurete nursing students among selected nursing
college.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• According to National League for Nursing, 2012, annual
Survey of School of Nursing, 29% of students in 2009, 27% of
students in 2010 and 24% of students in 2011 are enrolled in
basic RN programs.London (2002) investigated the perception
and sources of stress, coping mechanisms, and self-esteem
among 101 nursing students in Athens Medical School
• The data were collected during class periods through.
questionnaires. The results of the study revealed the top
stressor to be the nursing studies with 81(80.1%), financial
problems 61 (60%), lack of time for family! friends 49 (48.51
%) and health issues 37 (36.63%).
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• Most students reported problem focused coping as their
method of stress relief which included recreation sports,
problem solving, and social support. 73 (72.27%) had
support from family and friends while 1 (3.96%) of the
students had no support of any kind.
OBJECTIVES :
• To explore senior nursing students perception towards
the nursing profession and their experiences.
• To explore the coping strategies of nursing students with
stress.
• To explain academic authorities in recognising the
coping strategies of student with stress in clinical setting
can provide necessary training on effective coping
strategies.
INTRODUCTION
• Stress is a fact of life that every human deals with on a
daily basis. In the transitional nature of student life in
professional courses like nursing. initial period of course
is stressful and it adversely affects the emotional,
physical, social, and academic functions..
• Thus, the student nurse faces a lot of challenges and
problems at the time of 1 Year.
PROBLEM STATEMENT-4
• A pre experimental study to assess the effect of
Bensons relaxation therapy on stress among B.sc
(Nursing) 1 st year students in selected nursing college.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• A study conducted in Mangalore to determine the
perceived level of stress and coping behavior among B.
Sc. nursing students in selected colleges found that 55%
of the sample experienced severe stress, 12.5%
experienced moderate level of stress, and 32.5%
experienced Mild level of stress.
• The study concluded that stress may arouse from their
work, contact with patients, and demands of the
organization.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• Nursing students are valuable human resources.
Detection of potential stress among nursing students is
crucial since stress can lead to low productivity, low
quality of life, and suicidal ideas. Identifying factors
affecting stress among nursing students can help nursing
educators to find ways to decrease stress.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• During the B. Sc. nursing program, I have experienced a lot of
stressful situations and fearful Moments in the I year. Those eventful
days were questionable coping pattern and which adversely affected
the physical strength and emotional stability and academic activities.
• So, for many students and their colleagues were experiencing the
same situation,
• I understood that stress experienced by 1ST year student nurse
produces certain behavioral and emotional responses.
• Therefore, based on the above life experiences ground full
evidences, the researcher took interest in exploring the stress
experienced by 1STYear B. Sc. nursing students.
OBJECTIVES :
• To assess the effectiveness of Bensons relaxation therapy
on stress among first year nursing students.
• To assess the level of stress among nursing students
before intervention in both control and experimental
group .
• To find out the association between post test level of
stress among nursing student and selected demographic
variable in both control and experimental group.
INTRODUCTION
• Educationist and psychologists, for a long time, have
been trying to make learning easy and effective process.
As a consequence of this, the process of learning has
been subjected to extensive studies and
experimentations. Voluminous research has been
accumulated in this area in various countries.
• As a result of these researches, a host of factor
influencing learning has emerged which was classified as
learner variables, group characteristics, physical
characteristics and environment characteristics.
INTRODUCTION
• This focus on the collective knowledge and thinking of
the group changes the roles of students and teachers and
the way they interact in the classroom. The purpose of
this study to elaborate what classroom collaboration
means so that this grass-roots movement can continue to
grow and flourish.
PROBLEM STATEMENT -5
• A comparative study to assess effectiveness of peer
assissted learning and teacher assissted learning among
late bloomers nursing student.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• After examining several databases (CINAHL, Sport
Diseas, MEDLINE, ERIC, and EBSCO)
• From 1980-2005 for literature on the use of PAL in
medical and allied health education programs. The
following key words guided our searches peer teaching,
peer learning, peer assessment, peer leadership, peer
tutoring, and peer mentoring.
• Over 40 articles regarding the use of various forms of
PAL in nursing physical therapy, medicine, and athletic
training were identified.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• . Planned peer teaching is also widely used in nursing
clinicalsettings .where more experienced students are paired with
less experienced students to facilitate teaching and learning of
basic clinical skills.
• " Unplanned or incidental peer teaching occurs in the nursing
clinical setting and has been referred to as the "hidden curriculum.
• Specifically, 50% of nursing students reported learning most of
their practical skills from their peers. Similarly, another nursing
education study reported that 27% of nursing students felt that
they were taught the most by other nursing students during their
clinical education.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• With the present study we are able to gain some insight
into what motivates student tutors to teach in a skills lab
and what kind of experiences they have.
• Our results will definitely provide an important input for
the future training of highly qualified student tutors.
OBJECTIVES :
• To develop peer assissted learning activities and
incorporate them into the teaching program of nursing
students.
• To assess the effectiveness of peer assisted leaerning and
teacher assissted learning .
• To find out the association between post test among
nursing students.
INTRODUCTION
• Tuberculosis (TB), the second most leading cause of
death frominfectious diseases next only to human
immunodeficiencyvirus is a major public health problem
in India.
• With an estimated incidence 217 cases /1 lakh
population.India is the highest TB burden .
PROBLEM STATEMENT-6
• A mixed method of study to identify the barriers
towards drug regimen among non compliant pulmonary
tuberculosis patient in selected hospital.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
• According to revised National TB Control Program (RNTCP), TB
default (renamed as treatment after loss to follow-up, ie.. lost to follow-
up [LFU)) range, one of the program parameters, should be <10%.
• However, in case of India, this ranges between 3% and 17% Poor
adherence contributes to worsening of TB situation by increasing drug
resistance.
• Patients poor adherence to treatment, with an estimate of as low as 40%
in developing countries, remains the principal cause of treatment failure
globally.
• Poor adherence to treatment might have taken place due to various
demographic, socioeconomic, and behavioral causes. Exploring these
factors are the need of hour for successfully tackling TB.
OBJECTIVES
• To assess the prevalence of non adherence to anti
tuberculosis treatment .
• To explore factors associated with non compliant drug
regimen of tuberculosis patients attending the selected
hospital.
• To develop strategies for increasing awareness and
interest for the patients to take tuberculosis treatment.
