• 6-20 hours after mating, the female begins to reproduce
a large quantity of eggs which she carries under her abdo
men.
• The number of eggs depends on the species and the indi
vidual.
• After developing, the eggs released.
• These eggs hatch in larvae, which are moved down to river
towards the estuaries and the sea.
