Firearms can be classified in two main ways: by barrel construction and by projectile caliber. Based on barrel construction, firearms are either smoothbore or rifled. A. Accdg to Interior Barrel Construction
1. Smooth Bore FA= Fas have no
rifling(lands and grooves) ex ( Shotguns,
musket)
2. Rifled Bore FA= FAs have rifling inside their
gun barrel (rifles, pistols, revolvers)
B. Accdg to the Caliber of the Projectile
Propelled
1. Artillery- Fas that propels projectiles with
more than one inch diameter (Cannons,
Mortars and Bazookas
2. Small Arms- Fas that propel a
projectile with less than one inch diameter
and it can be handled, moved and operated by
one man.
