CAPTIONS
Long ago, there lived
a king named
Hrothgar and he is
the ruler of Danes.
The king and his men purposely built a Hoerot for
them to gather to drink, eat, rest, sing and etc.
Until, Grendel, the
darkness-bringer
terrorized their
kingdom for 12 long
years.
Every night, he would sneak-in in Heorot and
snatch up men in silence.
On the other hand,
Beowulf, a brave and
courageous warrior
heard the king’s
struggle.
So, Beowulf and together with his finest men
sailed to the Danes to rescue king Hrothgar.
Upon their arrival, the people of Danes
welcomed Beowulf with a feast in Heorot.
Predictably, Grendel attacked Heorot and silently
grabbed Beowulf. But Beowulf managed to
ripped off his one arm.
As a result, the
people of Danes
hang up the arm of
Grendel as their
trophy and hold a
feast for Beowulf.
THE TALE OF BEOWULF
1
In the land of Denmark there once lived a king named Hrothgar and he ruled the
2 land with his hardy warriors. During his reign Hrothgar built a great mead-hall, he called
3 Heorot, where his warriors would gather to rest, drink and sang songs and told stories
from their battles.
4
5 A hellish beast named Grendel from the swap lands of Hrothgar's kingdom was
6 angered from hearing the cheers and laughter coming from Heorot. Out of rage, he
7 decided to put an end to these wicked sounds to his ears.
8 Grendel had trekked from his swamp lands to discover that these sounds were
9 coming from a large building. Still filled with anger and rage, he stormed into the
10 building. Once inside he smashed, slammed and swatted the warriors that were once
enjoying the joys of Heorot. When no one remained but the bloodied beast who ended the
11
lives of the hearty warriors, he left feeling contempt with his atrocious deeds. So every
12 night he would return to repeat this slaughter until Heorot was left abandoned by it's kings
13 and warriors.
14
After years of Hrothgar pleading for aid against the deadly demon that dwells
15 within the swap of his kingdom. A young geatish warrior hears of the king's plight of a
16 monster named Grendel who has killed many warriors without failing in the battle. With a
lack of hesitation this Young warriors named Beowulf swore that he will put an end to this
17
beast and so he sailed off with 14 men to Denmark to end the blood crazed creature.
18
19 The watchman guided Beowulf and his men to Heorot. Once there the watchman
departed back to the beach and Beowulf continued into Heorot until he came across the
20
King. Hrothgar remembered Beowulf from when he was a boy and recalled his friendship
21 with his father, so he did not hesitate to accept Beowulf's offer to put an end to Grendel
22 with his bare hand. Beowuld and his warriors waited inside Heorot that night for Grendel
23 to appear and true to his word he removed his armor and sword.
24 Grendel stealthily approached Heorot and once he was close enough he busted
25 down the door and devoured a geatish warrior. Once monster's eyes found Beowulf he had
26 made an attempt to seize him with his hands, but to his surprise this mans strength not
only was equal to Grendel's but was also greater. At this moment Grendel had finally felt
27
fear and made an attempt to flee back to his swamp byt Beowulf thrashes him around
28 making it impossible to leave. Beowulf musters up even more of his monstrous strength
29 and severs Grendel's arm.
30
Grendel felt terrified and was mortally wounded, so he stormed of back to the
31 monsters den. Beowulf fest satisfied by removing Grendel's arm and decided to mount it
32 on the wall as trophy.
