Basic Research Proposal Template Guide

This document provides a template for a basic research proposal, including sections on introduction and rationale, literature review, research questions, scope and limitations, research methodology, timetable, cost estimates, dissemination plans, and references. It also discusses what constitutes basic research, noting that it is exploratory, descriptive, or explanatory research aimed at improving scientific theories and generating new knowledge to inform evidence-based policymaking. Examples of priority education research areas in the Philippines include teaching and learning, child protection, human resource development, governance, disaster risk reduction, inclusive education, and gender and development.

What is BASIC RESEARCH
 Basic research, also called pure research or
fundamental research, is scientific
research aimed to improve scientific theories for
improved understanding or prediction of natural
or other phenomena
 It can be exploratory, descriptive or explanatory
which can generate new ideas, principles and
theories
 Is used for evidence-based policy formulation

Writing the Action Research
INTRODUCTION
(a model)

General Context
define, describe, situate your research topic/problem in
the first paragraph

Specific Context
Build up your research topic/problem by giving background
or situationer vis-à-vis researches, policies and/or practice

Concrete Context
Relate the previous context by
describing the actual situation in the
classroom, school, workplace, etc. this
serves as baseline data.

Rationale
Then, justify/explain the action
you’ll do to solve the problem
Model B

Hook statement with problem context

Broad problem perspective

Statement of importance in addressing

the problem

Concrete problem citation/s

Rationale reiteration towards action

plan
Model C

Rationale

General Context

Specific Context

Concrete Context

Rationale reiteration
The use of computers for simulation activity offers education providers a
significant educational tool to meet the needs of today’s learners by
providing them with interactive and practice-based, instructional
technologies to enhance the total learning process (Rolando et al, 2013).

According to Cimer (2012), despite the popularity of science

subject, many learners still consider it difficult to learn.
Research Questions

 Should express a relation between two or more variables

 Should be stated clearly and unambiguously in question
form
 The problem should imply possibilities of empirical
testing. This means that the variables of the relation can
somehow be measured.
Research Questions
This study attempts to investigate the effects of integrating computer simulations in
Statement
teaching to the academic achievement in Electricity of the grade 8 and grade 10 students. This
form
was conducted in Malaybalay City National High School during the school year 2017-2018.
Specifically the study sought to answer the following problems:
1. What is the proficiency level and academic achievement in Physics
of:
a. students taught using laboratory activities with integration of computer
Question
simulations, and form
b. students taught using laboratory activities without integration of
computer simulations?
