CIRCLE
WHAT IS A CIRCLE?
CIRCLE is the set of all points
in a plane with same distance
from a certain point. This point
is called the center of the circle.
TERMS RELATED TO THE CIRCLE
CHORD – a line segment joining two points on
the circle. In circle A, CE and BG are chords.

TERMS RELATED TO CIRCLE
DIAMETER – a chord that connects t wo points on
the circle and passes through the center of the circle.
Every diameter is a chord. In the circle A, BF is a
diameter

TERMS RELATED TO THE CIRCLE
RADIUS – a line segment from the center of the
circle to any point on the circle. The radius of a circle is
one-half the diameter. In circle A, AB, AF, AD and AH
are radii. D

TERMS RELATED TO CIRCLE
CENTRAL ANGLE- an angle formed by two radii.
In circle A, BAD, BAH and HAF are central
angles.
TERMS RELATED TO CIRCLE
INSCRIBED ANGLE- An angle whose vertex is
on the circle. In circle A, FBG is an inscribed
angle.

d. at least 2 central angels:______
e. Inscribed angle:________ I L
f. 3 chords:_______
Direction: Write True if the statement is correct. If
not, write False.
_______ 1. The diameter of the circle is twice the
length of the radius.
_______ 2. The longest chord in a circle is the
diameter.
_______3. If the radius measures 12cm, then the
measure of the diameter is 6cm.
_______ 4. The length of every chord in a
circle is always greater than the length of a
radius.
_______ 5. The vertex of the central angle is
the center of the circle.
_______ 6. The vertex of an inscribed angle is
any point inside the circle.
_______ 7. We can draw circles with different
sizes but have the same center.
__________ 8. A line and a circle can
intersect in just one point.
__________9. Every diameter
intersects the circle in exactly two
points.
__________10. A circle is labeled by
its center point.
