Past simple tense
We use the past simple to talk about things that
happened in the past. We usually say when they
happened. We often use past time expressions:
▪ We went to school yesterday.
▪ She finished her homework an hour ago.

Were + they /we + object ? Yes, they/we were. - No, they /we weren’t.
