Rainwater Harvesting Techniques

The document discusses a proposal for rainwater harvesting on the roof of BOSE. It introduces rainwater harvesting and its objectives. It outlines the scope of work which includes literature review, rainwater testing, surveying the BOSE roof area and levels, and estimating rainwater harvesting for the roof. It also provides a literature review table summarizing several sources on topics related to rainwater harvesting.

INTRODUCTION
 Our earth is covered with 75% of water and 25% of land.
But water scarcity is a global issue because the large
extent of water is not used for domestic purposes ,
irrigation purposes , and one of the solution for such
problem is the Rainwater harvesting (RWH).
In the areas of regular rainfall ,the perfect alternative to
overcome the water scarcity is RWH.
Falling rain furnishes clean , natural water and it is not
astonishing because it’s due to the distillation
procedure.
WHAT IS RWH?
Rain water harvesting is collection and storage of
rainwater that runs off from roof tops , parks ,roads
open grounds etc.
This harvesting doesn’t include the water running
from land into the streams ,lakes and rivers etc.
It can be done in private buildings , public building
and manufactured areas.
OBJECTIVES OF RWH
Meet the growing needs and demands of water.
 Prevent the flooding of roads.
Decrease the corrosion of soil and complete the
domestic need of water.
METHODS
1.Surface runoff harvesting
2.Rooftop Rainwater harvesting
3.Direct pumped(submersible)
4.Indirect gravity
5.Gravity only
Rooftop rainwater harvesting
Scope
Literature review will be done.
Test on Rainwater will be done.
A survey will be conducted on the roof of BOSE,
to know the surface area and level of different points
for performing Rooftop RWH.
Estimation for this will be done.
