INTRODUCTION
Engineering is derived from Latin words lagnenium and ingeniere which
means cleverness and to devise. In simple terms it is understood as
something that innovates or create.
Engineers are the people who creates something to help the fellow humans
progress in life. Engineering is the designing, testing and building of
machines, structures and processes using maths and science.
The engineering profession engages in a wide range of activities, from large
collaboration at the societal level, and also smaller individual projects.
Almost all engineering projects are obligated to some sort of financing
agency: a company, a set of investors, or a government.
The few types of engineering that are minimally constrained by such issues
are pro bono engineering and open-design engineering.

By its very nature engineering has interconnections with society, culture

and human behaviour. Every product or construction used by modern
society is influenced by engineering. The results of engineering activity
influence changes to the environment, society and economies, and its
application brings with it a responsibility and public safety
Details on the activities involved
during the induction programme:
On 12th August 2023, Induction programme for Post Graduate

dignitaries who were part of the induction program.

On 12th August 2023, school induction was conducted where our

Head of the Department Mr.Shantharaja and our dean Dr.Sumathy
S for School of Computer Science Engineering and Information
Systems, explained the curriculum and the academic structure of
VIT. /After our school Induction we had EPT held at SJT computer
labs
Learnings during the general
induction
Professors explained programme:
to us what role the technology related to their department plays in
society, and after graduation what role we the student would play in society as an engineer in
that branch. A lecture by an alumnus of the Dept. was held during this session, where they
told us how to world work and what we need to be successful

During the session we came across an amazing credit system in VIT, i.e., FFCS
(FFCS) Is system where we can choose our own faculty and where we can choose a
timetable where we can choose the timings of lectures.
Then they mentioned about the two mega festivals conducted in VIT namely:

1)RIVERA
2)GRAVITAS
After that the vice chancellor took over the mic and felicitated the
gathering with welcoming the freshers and describing the campus.
He also discussed about the VISION, MISSION and CORE VALUES
of VIT.

VISION: TRANSFORMING LIFE THROUGH

EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

MISSION:
1. WORLD CLASS EDUCATION
