Roles of Counselors

1. Counselors-assist their client in their


journey of self-awareness, self-
acceptance, decision-making, and
problem-solving.
2. Coordinators-may refer a client to a
specialist that could further help with
his or her needs.
3. Consultants-may give expert
opinions and suggest helpful strategies.
4. Conductors of activities-may be
involved in the planning and direct
implementation of certain activities
that can assist clients

5. Change of agents-may act as a


catalyzer, process helper, solution
giver, resource linker, and stabilizer.
Functions of Counselors

1. Counseling- focuses on clients’


growth, adjustment, problem-
solving and decision-making
needs.

2. Assessment- process of
systematically gathering of
information about the clients.
3. Career Assistance- help clients
determine which career best suits
them through a career development
program.

4. Referral- done when counselors


need to find and transfer their clients
to other
experts or counselors with special

on, counseling is necessary
to be undertaken on a
community level.
Directions: Using the outer circles, identify the unique needs that are recognized and
addressed in each setting given. Then in the center circle, describe the needs that are
commonly recognized and addressed among the different settings of counseling.
