TENSES
1. PRESENT TENSE
A. SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE: V1+S\ES

 examples:

She works in London.

Emma watches cartoons every day.

Solve:

EXAMPLES:

D. PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS

EXAMPLES:
I have been working on this project for a week.
He has been working on this project for a week.

SOLVE:

2. PAST TENSE
A. SIMPLE PAST TENSE: V2
 examples:

John Cabot sailed to America in 1498.

He lived in Fiji in 1976.

Solve:
1. The aeroplane took off at 7:30 P.M.
2. Annie drank espresso in the morning.
3. Irin was reading Tintin.
4. The children were playing hide and seek.
5. Sunny had done his task before the teacher came.
B. PasT CONTINUOUS TENSE : was\
were + V1+ING
 examples:
It was snowing yesterday.
They were eating at the restaurant.
SOLVE:
1. The children ____ hide and seek in the park. (play)
2. They ____ to the movies. (go)
3. I ___ the book you gave me on my birthday. (read)
4. Winnie _____ her new dress. (stitch)
5. The dogs ____ all night. (bark)
C. PAST PERFECT TENSE:HAD + V3

EXAMPLES:
I had finished the work.
I had been working there for a year.
SOLVE:
1. I (study) Japanese before.
2. She (bake) a lot before she (open) her shop.
3. We (have) a lot of trouble because we (lose) our
passports.
4. Brian (know) many people at the club because he (be)
there many times.
5. They (study) English before they (move) to Canada.
D. PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS
TENSE:HAD + BEEN + V1 + ING
EXAMPLES:
"I had been studying for two hours when my mom came home."
"She had been running for an hour when she got tired.“
SOLVE:
1. The receptionist ____________ the applications for the interview. (accept)
2. The delivery boy________________ the parcel on time at the
destination. (not/deliver)
3. Ben _____ always ____________ in front of his teacher in his lecture. (nod)

3. FUTURE TENSE
A. SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE:WILL\SHALL +V1
EXAMPLES:

I will go to the store tomorrow.


She will help you with your homework.

SOLVE:
1. I (help) you with your homework.
2. She (be) here very soon.
3. They (come) at 8 o'clock.
4. You (call) me next week.
5. I (use) the money wisely.
B. FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE :
SHALL\ wILL +BE + V1+ING
 EXAMPLES:
 I will be writing the letter tomorrow.
 The baby will be playing the whole night.

SOLVE:
1. We ….. (complete) our course by the end of January.

2. She …..(reach) home safely before sunset.

3. The farmers ….. (reap) the harvest before it rains.

4. You ….. (leave) for London by this time tomorrow.

5. They ….. (win) the match by a big margin.


C. FUTURE PERFECT TENSE:Will\
ShAll + HAVE + V3
EXAMPLES:
I will have finished this book.
You will have studied the English tenses.

SOLVE:
1. When you come home, I (cook) dinner for you.
2. They (wash) the dishes by now.
3. He (invite) her for a coffee.
4. In ten years’ time the house (fall) into ruin.
5. She (leave) work for today.
D. FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS
TENSE:WILL\SHALL + HAVE+ BEEN + V1 + ING
EXAMPLES:
By 3:00, they will have been studying for four hours.
By the end of the summer, I will have been saving money for five
months.

SOLVE:
1. Ben _________________ weight for three months. (not/lose)
2. She __________________ books since morning. (read)
3. He __________________ for two months. (not/travel)
4. We __________________ for two hours. (sing)
5. I __________________ an essay for one hour. (not/write)
Change tense as directed.
1. I will talk to him. (Change into simple past)
