What is air pollution?
Air pollution is the contamination of air due to the presence
of substances called pollutants in the atmosphere that are
harmful to the health of humans and other living beings, or
cause damage to the climate or to materials.
What is air pollution?
• Vehicle emissions, fuel oils and natural gas to
heat homes, by-products of manufacturing and
power generation, particularly coal-fueled power
plants, and fumes from chemical production are
the primary sources of human-made air pollution.
How to reduce air pollution?
1
Walk or cycle to school : Walking, cycling, or even scooting to school
is a fantastic way to start the day.
2 Use of public transport : Use Public Transportation to Reduce Air
Pollution. Facts and figures don’t lie — our transportation needs
produce 30% of all carbon dioxide gas emissions.
How to reduce air
pollution
3
Plant a Garden : Planting trees will help us get enough fresh air we
need.
4 Stop Burning Leaves, Woods, and Garbages/Stop Smoking : Burning
leaves, woods, and garbage, as well as the smoke that comes from
cigarettes produces carbon monoxide which is harmful to our
environment.
Conclusion
Continued research and analysis is needed to
understand further the impacts of air pollution
and how this challenge can be addressed
most effectively. This also needs to ensure
that we avoid causing unintended
consequences, as has happened in the past.
Conclusion
Tackling air pollution can provide numerous
benefits to society, from improving a city’s
resilience, to making our cities more inviting
and pleasant places to live. Addressing the air
pollution challenge will therefore also help
with a number of other challenges,
particularly in light of a rising population.
