Kinds of Materials:
1. Pictures – these are electronic or digital
pictures or photographs you have saved in any
local storage devices.
a. Jay – peg(.jpeg/.jpg) – Joint Photographic
Experts Group. It is suitable for use when
working with full color photographic
images.(file support 16.7 million colors)
b. Graphics Interchange Format(.gif) – this
image file is capable of displaying transparencies. It
is also capable of displaying simple animation.(256
colors).

- it was built around the capabilities of
.gif. its purpose is to transport images on the
internet at faster rates. It does not
support animation. (16 million colors)
2. Clip Art – it is a .GIF type.

might want to integrate in the document.
3. Shapes – printable objects or materials that can
integrate in the document to enhance its appearance or
to allow to have tools to use for representing ideas.
4. Chart/Graph/Table – material that can be
integrate in Word document that allows to
represent an organizational or structural in nature.
5. Screenshot – this procedures is used to integrate
a more realistic image of what is discussing on the
report or manual.
Image Placement:
1. In line with Text – it is the default setting for
images that are inserted in the document. It treat
your image like a font with the bottom side totally
aligned with the text line.
2. Square – this setting allows the image to be
placed anywhere within the paragraph with the text
going around the image in a square pattern like
frame.

3. Tight – same with square setting but here, the text
“hugs” or conforms to the general shape or image. It
allows to get a more creative effect on the document.
4. Through – it allows the text in the document to
flow even tighter, taking the contours and shape
of the image. It is best used with a .GIF or .PNG
type of image.

5. Top and Bottom – this setting pushes the text away
vertically to the top and/or bottom of the image so
that the image occupies a whole text line on its own.
6. Behind the Text – this allows the image to be
dragged and placed anywhere in the document
but with the texts floating in front of it. It makes
the image look – like a background.
7. In Front of Text – this settings allows the
image to be placed right on top of the text as if
you image was dropped right on it.
Steps in Inserting Pictures/image:
1. Click on the Insert menu
2. Select Pictures.
3. From Insert Dialog Box, click the files/folder
of the desired picture.
4. Click the Insert button below the Insert
Dialog box.
