“Rooted in Christ”
Sabbath School Object Lesson
Function of The Roots
1. Roots hold up the plant in the soil, like an anchor holds the boat:
“A healthy soil, grows strong roots that can
withstand strong winds, heat from the sun and
rain. God wants us to be rooted in Christ.”
Function of The Roots
2. Soak up water and nutrients that the Plant needs to survive:
“A Fruit tree that is planted in good soil is healthy
and bears good fruit. God wants us to be drawing
nourishment from Christ, and making sure that we
get the right kinds of godly nutrients.”
How do we do that?
How do we stay rooted in Christ?
1. Read the Bible daily (Seek His
Truth).
2. Pray and Ask God for Help
(Seek His power).
3. Go to Church (Be part of the
Body of Christ).
Colossians 2:6,7
6And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your
Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7Let your
roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built
on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth
you were taught, and you will overflow with
thankfulness.
Colossians 3:1-2
1Since you have been raised to new life with Christ,
set your sights on the realities of heaven, where
Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
2Think about the things of heaven, not the things of
earth.
