The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County (SWDA) is building a smarter, cleaner future through expanded recycling access. From easy curbside pickup to the launch of Alabama’s first CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) facility, we’re committed to making sustainable waste solutions accessible to every household.

CHaRM Facility in Fairhope

NOW OPEN: Monday – Friday: 10AM to 6PM, Saturday: 7 AM to Noon. CHaRM provides responsible drop-off options for hard-to-recycle items like electronics, batteries, paint, glass, and more.

Recycling cardboard uses 75% less energy than producing new cardboard and saves 9 cubic yards of landfill space per ton.

Recycling plastic uses 88% less energy and saves the equivalent of up to 2,000 gallons of gasoline per ton.

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for 3 hours.

These small actions add up—diverting waste, reducing emissions, conserving water, and preserving Baldwin County’s beauty for future generations.
