It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that author, artist, concrete poet, and creative innovator Judith Copithorne has passed away. Copithorne was a pillar of Vancouver’s experimental poetry scene in the 1960s and 1970s, bringing a distinctly feminist edge to the community. Her avant-garde work frequently explored themes of gender, desire, the domestic sphere, spirituality, and revolution. Copithorne broke barriers both creatively and socially. Her influence is, and has been, profound. Judith Copithorne will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this time.
