The UI Framework has built-in support for native advertising.

Native advertising stories have a byline from the advertiser. The terminology can be changed – Funded by, Sponsored by, In partnership with, etc. A site can have multiple types of advertiser bylines.

Sponsor bylines are automatically displayed on all SPIN layouts and wherever the story is listed on the site, including search results.

The story page supports the picture byline to show the advertiser’s logo. This will appear at the top of the page and at the bottom of the story text, with text from the advertiser’s contact description. Native advertising stories can also optionally include sub-branding messages.

    1280_Native_Story_Example

A story page showing Roche as the commissioning partner, and MediPulse the sub-branding.

    Native_bio

Advertisers get a bio page, allowing them to have a full description, logo, contact details and links, and a list of any other stories on the site.

Any paid-for links can have the “nofollow” attribute to follow guidance from Google, applied in the CMS.
