This week, a delegation from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority - GCGRA participated in the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) Annual Conference held in Toronto, Canada, joining regulators and industry leaders from around the world to share perspectives on building safe and responsible commercial gaming environments. Kevin Mullally, Chief Executive Officer, contributed to a panel on illegal and unlicensed commercial gaming, where he discussed the importance of collaboration, raising awareness, and establishing clear legal frameworks that prevent unregulated activity and protect consumers from the outset. He also noted the UAE’s coordinated, cross-government approach to strengthening controls and maintaining integrity across the emerging commercial gaming ecosystem. Tammi Barlow-Marang MBA, Associate Vice President and Manager of Responsible Gaming, took part in a discussion on player self-exclusion and safer-gaming frameworks, highlighting the importance of informed choice, prevention, and access to support. She emphasised that responsible gaming initiatives are most effective when guided by data and player insights. Manuela Croci (PhD, MSc), Chief of Supervision and Financial Crime Prevention at the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), joined the meeting of the General Secretariat of the AMLCFT (Anti-Money Laundering and Combatting Financing of Terrorism), underscoring the Authority’s commitment to safeguarding the UAE’s financial integrity and National Security. The retreat served as a strategic platform for participants to review the implementation of the UAE’s National Strategy for AML/CFT/CPF 2024–2027, which was adopted by the UAE Cabinet on 2nd September 2024.
