When duty calls, I don’t ask too many questions I just show up and get the job done. Weeks ago, a client approached us for a permanent rigging installation at one of their venues (name confidential). We took on the project, offered them a great deal, and went in fully ready to deliver. But life had a surprise waiting for us. When we got on site… no lighting technicians. Zero. Nothing. Some people would’ve panicked. Some would’ve walked away. Me? I dusted off my old lighting gloves and jumped in. Yes, I’m a Rigger. A Project Manager. But I’ve also been blessed to learn from so many incredible people along the way who shared their knowledge and helped shape me into the multi-skilled person I am today. To everyone who ever passed me a skill, a tip, or a word of encouragement thank you. You helped prepare me for moments like this. 🔧 SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY THIS COULD HAVE ENDED BADLY! 🚨 Today I want to share a real and serious reminder for everyone working in construction, events rigging, maintenance, or any work at height. The photos and video below show a recent situation where a worker got stuck in a man basket that was improperly rigged and structurally unsafe. The crane basket was damaged, rusted, and not certified for safe lifting. He was completely helpless and couldn’t get himself out. Thankfully, we acted fast and managed to rescue him using a proper boom arm before the situation turned into a tragedy. ⚠️ Key Takeaway: Inspect your equipment before every use. As riggers, operators, and workers at height you are the first line of defense. Don't wait for someone else to check the machine for you. ✅ Before any lifting operation: Check the condition of the basket, rigging, and crane arm. Use only certified equipment designed for lifting people. Ensure there's an emergency rescue plan in place. If something doesn’t look right SPEAK UP and STOP the job. This could happen to anyone. Don’t ignore safety checks. Let’s take this as a lesson and always prioritize safety over speed or convenience.
