Abu Dhabi global technology ecosystem Hub71 attracted 13 new AI-focused startups in the first half of 2025, bringing its total AI company portfolio to 52. UAE is building something the world has never seen before An entire island dedicated to longevity. Launching in 2027 on AlJurf a private island between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. SHA Island is being billed as the first island community dedicated to healthy living, preventative care, and lifespan extension. Developed by IMKAN Properties and operated by SHA Wellness (the integrative-medicine brand behind award-winning clinics in Spain and Mexico), with Knight Frank MENA leading residence sales. The blueprint: Residences: 51 sustainable apartments, 19 Garden Villas, 67 Beach/Shoreline Villas. First handovers targeted for 2027, guide prices reported from AED 9M–130M. A SHA Resort & Clinic: -> delivering integrative medicine, diagnostics, and personalised programmes, wrapped by dedicated pavilions: - Mind & Body - Movement - Hydrotherapy - Healthy Nutrition. This is design for health: -> Advanced air-purification -> dynamic circadian lighting -> natural materials -> wellness-first architecture across homes and public spaces. The island will be surrounded by mangroves and coastline, with marinas and a heliport. It will be easily accessible from both Dubai and Abu Dhabi with future Etihad Rail connections also planned. This isn’t a resort or a hospital. It’s an ecosystem: homes + clinic + daily rituals, designed to make preventative care the default. It also signals the UAE’s push to lead wellness real estate and longevity tourism as part of the fast-growing global wellness economy. Emiratisation is a burden 😥 That is how it’s often seen by companies in the private sector. Targets. Quotas. Compliance. But let’s flip the perspective: What if Emiratisation became a strategic investment in your company’s future? -> Emiratis bring deep cultural knowledge and networks that no expat workforce can replicate. -> They represent the next generation of leaders who will shape policy, business, and society. And yes, the mandate is clear: the private sector must employ nationals.
