A truly remarkable milestone for Mission 300 this week. 17 additional countries presented their National Energy Compacts at the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Forum in New York. As Mission 300 expands, these nations have committed to country-tailored, actionable and time-bound roadmaps designed to drive electrification and create jobs across Africa. Delighted to see Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Comoros, the Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, São Tomé and Principe, Sierra Leone, and Togo on board Mission 300. Witnessing countries, development partners, and the private sector come together with a shared goal of connecting 30 million people in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030 is truly inspiring and a testament to Africa’s strength and determination.   Together with the African Development Bank Group and partners, the The World Bank Group is on a critical journey to #PoweringAfrica – an ambitious mission, certainly, but one that is already delivering tangible results and changing people’s lives. With electricity, children can study after dark, young entrepreneurs can follow their dreams and businesses thrive while economies grow. Since its inception, Mission 300 has already connected 30 million people to electricity across Africa, accelerating progress by 1.5 times compared to previous efforts. And this is just the beginning.
