Dubai has taken another decisive step toward reshaping the global trade and digital asset ecosystem. The DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) and the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority [VARA] have entered into a landmark partnership aimed at advancing the tokenization of real-world commodities. Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) ramps up secondaries strategy with substantial private equity investments. The fund has increased its focus on acquiring limited partner portfolios alongside general partners, targeting attractively priced opportunities in a market grappling with weak exits and slower fundraising. Despite the shift in focus, ADIA has maintained its private equity allocation at 12–17% of its overall portfolio. Alongside its secondary push, ADIA is expanding in private credit. Recent commitments include AGL Private Credit in the US upper middle market, Pemberton Asset Management’s NAV Strategic Financing strategy, and Polus Capital Management’s Special Situations strategy. #AbuDhabi-based investment firm Lunate is acquiring a minority stake in UK hedge fund Brevan Howard, while also launching a $2 billion hedge fund platform at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). The partnership, described by Lunate managing partner Khalifa Al Suwaidi as a “milestone expansion into hedge funds,” aims to attract additional capital from both local and global investors. Part of a business empire overseen by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Lunate manages $110 billion across private equity, venture capital, and private credit strategies. Brevan Howard, which oversees $34 billion worldwide, has rapidly expanded its presence in Abu Dhabi since opening its ADGM office in 2023—now its largest hub by assets under management.
