ADIA → GLP: what you need to know about the Abu Dhabi goliath's backing of Asian logistics giant 💼 Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) becomes a direct shareholder in GLP (up to US$1.5bn, US$500m now), shifting from LP to the cap table. 🧩 Focus: scaling data centres, modern logistics, and renewables across APAC, Europe, and the Americas. 📊 Operator depth: GLP manages US$80bn via GLP Capital Partners; DC revenues rose 43% YoY to US$193m. 🔌 Power & permits matter: recent CNY2.5bn (US$350m) from Zhejiang provincial entities to expand China data center capacity. 🧹 Cleaner perimeter: sale of GCP International to Ares Management Corporation for US$3.7bn (closed Mar ’25) simplified the platform ahead of possible HK listing. 🧭 ADIA’s strategy: building “new-economy” real assets - towers, data centers, logistics, and on-site renewables - where patient capital compounds. 🤝 Sovereign/public co-investor bench: CPP Investments | Investissements RPC, GIC, China Investment Corporation, KOREA NATIONAL PENSION SERVICE, Korea Investment Corporation, QuadReal Property Group/BCI, etc - a long-standing sovereign LP ecosystem. ⚖️ Risks to track: power bottlenecks, permitting/regulatory timelines (esp. China/Japan), and listing-window valuations. 🔄 Why it matters: scarcity is shifting from capital to power and execution - favouring scaled developer-operators with sovereign partners. 👉 Read the full analysis for the details, context, and what to watch next: https://lnkd.in/dJUsrbuN #ADIA #GLP #SovereignWealth #SWF #AssetManagement #RealAssets #PrivateMarkets #DigitalInfrastructure #DataCenters #Logistics #APAC #Brazil #China #Japan #IPO
Private Equity Insights
Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) ramps up secondaries strategy with substantial private equity investments. The fund has increased its focus on acquiring limited partner portfolios alongside general partners, targeting attractively priced opportunities in a market grappling with weak exits and slower fundraising. Despite the shift in focus, ADIA has maintained its private equity allocation at 12–17% of its overall portfolio. Alongside its secondary push, ADIA is expanding in private credit. Recent commitments include AGL Private Credit in the US upper middle market, Pemberton Asset Management’s NAV Strategic Financing strategy, and Polus Capital Management’s Special Situations strategy. #AbuDhabi-based investment firm Lunate is acquiring a minority stake in UK hedge fund Brevan Howard, while also launching a $2 billion hedge fund platform at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). The partnership, described by Lunate managing partner Khalifa Al Suwaidi as a “milestone expansion into hedge funds,” aims to attract additional capital from both local and global investors. Outliers Venture Capital
At Money20/20 Middle East in Riyadh, we joined a timely conversation on the foundations of lasting investor–founder partnerships. Alongside Bilal Abou-Diab, CFA, Vault's Co-founder (and an Outliers Venture Capital founder), and Ravishankar GV, Vault’s latest backer, the panel discussed why enduring partnerships in venture are rarely born in urgency. They’re seeded with conviction, tested by time, and held together by transparency. In a region where ecosystems are maturing rapidly, being intentional about who you bring on board is as critical as the capital itself. And in venture, capital undeniably enables growth, but the right alignment surely determines outcomes.
