The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the world's largest regional security organization. Its 57 participating States span the geographical area from Vancouver to Vladivostok. Born in the early 1970s as the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe, it served as an important multilateral forum for dialogue between East and West during the Cold War. It was also instrumental in tackling the numerous security challenges that arose in Europe after the collapse of communism. Today, the OSCE, its institutions, and its 16 field operations are actively involved in a broad range of security- and stability-related activities including election monitoring, human rights, legislative reform, rule of law and media freedom, as well as combating human trafficking, terrorism and the smuggling of small arms and light weapons.

OSCE hat dies direkt geteilt
Humbled and honoured to host today in Vienna with OSCE Troika leadership the OSCE celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. Together with the Ambassadors of participating States and Partners for Co-operation as well as 42 remarkable alumnae of the high-level mentoring Women Peace Leadership Programme, we reflected on 25 years of progress and partnership, and on the work that still lies ahead to ensure women’s full, equal, and meaningful participation in all peace and security efforts. In my opening remarks, I emphasized why investing in women’s leadership and inclusion is not optional but essential. As we face unprecedented global challenges and threats, we must now deliver on our international commitments. The stakes are simply too high, and the cost of exclusion too great. Comprehensive and lasting peace and security urgently needs the expertise, vision, and perspective of women. Short of this, any efforts at global stability will lack legitimacy and fall short of ambition. Grateful to OSCE Secretary General Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, 🇫🇮 CiO Vesa Häkkinen, 🇨🇭 Ambassador Raphael Naegeli, and 🇲🇹 Acting Head Deborah M. Borg for championing gender equality and the #WPS agenda, and to all WIN donors for their extensive support in accelerating implementation of OSCE commitments. Most sincere gratitude to 🇳🇴 Ambassador Svendsen Ellen, SR on Climate Kerstin Stendahl and Afghan Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari for their powerful interventions and to our remarkable women leaders for their tireless work to make their communities and countries safer, more stable, and more peaceful. Their perspectives laid down concrete steps for innovative strategies and collaborative pathways to advance WPS agenda in the years ahead. Truly a remarkable day: to celebrate, recommit, and be reminded that when women lead equally, peace can truly last💫 Chapeaux to my team for making this a successful event! #SheForPeace #WithWomenForPeace #WPSMatters #WINGenderEquality Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE Embassy of Malta in Austria - Permanent Mission of Malta to the OSCE, UN & other Int.
