Students taking over the kitchen! On Friday, six student from Turun ammatti-instituutti and Raseko, Raision seudun koulutuskuntayhtymä prepared an impressive lunch at Ambassador Vesa Häkkinen’s residence as part of #CulinaryinFinnishEmbassy – an initiative that showcases Finnish food culture through embassy-hosted events around the world. The 2025 Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, the largest annual human rights conference in Europe, ends today. Almost 2,000 participants were registered for this year’s event, a record number that shows the vital importance of democratic principles and human rights for our societies and for our security. Thanks to the Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE and all participants for two weeks of animated conversation on how to strengthen democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights. Together, we can. #WarsawHDC

Two weeks. Nearly 2,000 participants. Almost 120 side events. Today marks the end of the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, the largest annual human rights conference in Europe—this year with a record number of participants. Over these two weeks, we have heard diverse voices from across the OSCE region, all calling for tolerance, non-discrimination, and mutual respect. We have witnessed interventions from human rights defenders who, despite facing intimidation and harassment, continue their vital work—often at great personal risk. A heartfelt thank you to the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), as well as all participants, introducers, moderators, and side event organizers. It is this sense of inclusiveness that builds resilient societies—and it is this spirit we all need for peaceful times ahead. #OSCE25FI

🌟 Did you know? More than 110 side-events have been taking place at the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, creating space to exchange ideas and share personal reflections in smaller groups. The range of discussions has been impressively broad—from political imprisonment, journalists living in exile, the treatment of prisoners of war by the Russian Federation, hate crime training for police and prosecutors, to the evolving concept of freedom of thought in the age of AI - and even a gender parity roadmap was launched, aiming to turn principles about equal representation of women and men into reality. As civic space continues to shrink, media freedom faces growing challenges, and human rights defenders encounter increasing threats—these conversations remain essential. Thank you to all organisers and participants—many sharing first-hand testimonies and personal perspectives 🙏. #OSCE25FI #WarsawHDC OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Photo: Piotr Dziubak

🗣️ “We must keep reminding people that gender equality is a human right — it is also a development accelerator and a peace enabler. Advancing gender equality boosts economic growth, improves health and education, reduces poverty, fosters social justice, and enhances peace and stability — ultimately benefiting the whole society.” The second week of the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference is in full swing, with discussions focusing on tolerance and non-discrimination, including the rights of persons belonging to national minorities and equal opportunities for women and men. In her remarks, Saara-Sofia Sirén, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Gender, highlighted the global backlash against women’s rights and gender equality — calling it deeply concerning and a threat to further progress. She emphasized the urgent need to step up efforts and reinforce our determination to ensure women’s and girls’ empowerment and full participation in all spheres of life. #WarsawHDC #OSCE25FI Photo: OSCE / Piotr Dziubak
