Female quantum physicists from the beginnings to today 2025! The project “Quantenphysikerinnen im Fokus” (Female Quantum Physicists in focus) aims to increase the visibility of the contributions of women in the field of quantum science and quantum technology. Well-known and unknown female scientists who have contributed to the success of quantum technologies will be identified. Their fascinating portraits and their research will be presented. This should increase the visibility of female physicists, spark interest in research among schoolchildren and inspire the general public about quantum science. The project is led by the Working Group on Equal Opportunities (AKC) of the German Physical Society (DPG), with kind support of the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation. The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) is pioneering hybrid quantum-classical computing to accelerate breakthroughs in fields like AI, materials science, and cosmology.     Forschungszentrum Jülich is home to one of Europe’s most advanced computing research facilities and now, the first high-performance computing center in the world to own a D-Wave annealing quantum computer. We are looking forward to the inauguration of the exascale supercomputer JUPITER tomorrow, Friday 5 September, at 14:00 CEST at Forschungszentrum Jülich! #ECMWF has been actively involved in the initial operation of this first exascale supercomputer in Europe, which marks a significant milestone in high-performance computing for weather and climate research. JUPITER's computing power, unprecedented in Europe, will allow ECMWF to perform global km-scale simulations matching the resolution of the latest generation of EUMETSAT’s Meteosat Third Generation-Imager (MTG-I) and the Meteosat Third Generation Sounder (MTG-S). The inauguration will be attended by ECMWF's Director of Forecasts and Services and next Director-General Florian Pappenberger, Director for Destination Earth Irina Sandu, Digital Technology Lead for Destination Earth Nils Wedi and Head of Earth System Modelling Peter Dueben.
